Bought this 1×11 groupset to update a 2012(ish) Canyon Nerve which was running 3×10. It has completely transformed the ride! Easy to fit – probably took 2 hours to strip the old groupset and clean the bike, then another couple of hours to mount the new groupset and get it all dialled (including replacing the cable outers). Despite a few other comments about lack of gear cable my groupset had one included (and already attached to the shifter) however the chain didn’t include a quick-link so I’d recommend buying one (or an 11-speed SRAM chain which includes a quick-link, for about the same price as the Shimano quick-link!) Great product, super-slick and accurate changing, plus a neater cockpit – all good!

Replaced my deore 2×10 (24/38t chainring) with the XT 1×11. Runs smoother, gear ratios are better up and down and less clutter. Win, win, win. The fact that it was half price also helps. Stop thinking about it and just do it.

Great supply of bike-components. The XT drivetrain groupset is easy to install en runs like velvet. The package is easy trackable through a track `n trace system throughout Europe, not only insite the UK. A sasisfied customer from The Netherlands

XT is a solid choice for pretty much any trail bike. Shifting is smooth as can be, and the overall weight isn’t too bad either. I have used this build kit on 3 bikes so far and had great results.
The only downside is that the chain seems to be of lower quality.

Great crankset with hollowgram 2 crank arms. Crank ring with no dropping the chain, holds it tight and well. Rear derailleur with precise and fast shifting, even under loads. Trigger shifter and derailleur shifts 4 gears down in one push, and 2 up – so no problems changing for the unforeseen hill coming up after the turn. Cassette is well-build, looks to last and no pockets for mud to get caught.
All in all – a great purchase, especially at that price.

Considered 1by 12 but found this hard to justify for the sake of a 11 tooth small sprocket vs 10 which was the main driver for considering 12 speed. At the other end of the spectrum a 34 tooth chain ring mated to 42 tooth cassette seems to provide plenty of range without breaking the bank. Added benefit is yhe 11 speed cassette fits a standard freehub body unlike 12 speed. All good so far. Very crisp action

I have historically always ridden XT, however, switched over to SRAM X7 for a couple of years. Whilst this was decent enough, having now recently returned to XT I find them light years apart. The XT has a definitive mechanical clunk on shifting, however, the chain transitions smoothly with a smooth crisp feel to it. I’ve only completed a few rides but am extremely pleased with this purchase, it’s improved the experience significantly for the better.

With more range than my 3×10 seemed to have my trial bike can literally take any climb or descent I throw at it.

A very good upgrade simple to fit, Ive marked it down for not supplying gear cable outer and chain came male/male so had to fiddle with that. But even with these slight niggles I got a second kit for my other bike!

Originally ran a 2×10 set-up then converted to 1×10 and, just recently, to 1×11, all XT (I do love the reduced weight and simplicity of a 1x system but I do miss the range of a 2×10 sometimes, especially when doing a lot of climbing). I bought the 1×11 XT (M8000) group-set and continue to be impressed by Shimano. Fit and finish is excellent, really nice look and feel. Machining on cranks is excellent and I like that the chain ring bolts mount from the inside, so you don’t see them – time will tell if the Shimano and XT logos on the crank arms hold up (don’t rub off) as this is a sticking point for most Shimano owners. The XT brakes are some of the best – excellent modulation, easily adjustable throw, and raised bumps to improve feel/grip. During long rides there is no fading present although I ride mostly XC/Trail and no real crazy descents. The XT shifter is quick and precise, allowing double-shifts and also having raised bumps for better feel/grip. Went with the 11-42 cog and I’m finding it gives me plenty of gearing and no issues with the chain falling off when back-pedalling. Only 5-6 weeks in but everything has held up well to ‘spirited’ trail riding, the clutch derailleur has worked without issue and no drops (using an AbsoluteBlack oval chain ring – reviewed elsewhere). Can’t speak about install as my lbs handled that but instructions included with each item is pretty basic so some experience in this field is definitely recommended! Overall, very happy and impressed with this group-set!!!

I confess to not being particularly mechanically minded and so really struggled ti install this onto my Cannondale Rush. There are no fitting instructions (or all least no with my bundle) and I struggled to find detail on Shimano’s website. In the end I just couldn’t get it working and so had to check in to the LBS who got me sorted.
I swapped the Shimano chain pin for a KNC quick link – much happier using those.
Now that it’s all up and running I can say that it is brilliant. Shifting is smooth (maybe not as silky as SRAM which I run on other bikes) and reliable so far. I opted for a 32 ring up front. On the whole this is fine or riding trails around Swinley – I may try a 34 just to see if the legs are up to it. Doubt it somehow! I’m happy enough that I will be fitting the same kit to a couple of other bikes as soon as the parts come up for replacement. Recommended.

After reading many reviews I decided to change from 3 chain rings to a single. I chose the Shimano XT as I have been using XT for quite some years and never had an issue over quality and I have not been disappointed. Changing all the kit around was very easy and took only a slight adjustment on the first ride. The shifting is very positive and has not slipped once yet even over rough terrain. I opted for the 42 tooth cassette which does not give me the range I had with a granny ring but it is not far off and I have managed to get up most of the steep climbs I have on my rides. Still a few more to try but really happy so far.

I previously used SRAM X9 and had to replace due to wear and tear. Im really happy with my new replacement and enjoy the 1 x 11 group set – I previously had 2 x 10. I mainly ride trails, so no major up or downhills and its great for that. You run out of ‘steam’ on long flat stretches, but this isn’t too much of an issue for me and i enjoy the new ratio’s which this 1 x11 offers. Enjoy!

I weigh 55 kg and managed to snap the included chain 5 times: crossing road, dropping in to dirt jumps, 2x climbing a small hill and a short sprint
I’ve also had issues with changing into the lowest gear (Simply just doesn’t happen). It’s been tuned by a professional mechanic twice but somehow disaligns itself after a couple of rides. This problem is still ongoing.
Apart from that, everything is good! Would recommend getting professional installation and replacing the included chain.

Good product but would do good with some more offset on the crank chain ring as it pulls the chain at a large angle on 1st and 2nd gear.

Xt 1×11 is awesome! easy to install and adjust. It has all the gears I nee for the Colorado front range single track, I went with the 11×42 wit h32t chain ring. Love this drive train quite and smooth.

I upgraded my 2007 Specialized Enduro from a 3×9 to a 1×11 using this product. I used this because I didn’t have to upgrade hubs, bottom bracket etc as all of the 9 years old bits were Shimano. Big plus! First thing I noticed was the weight difference, this system is 1.1kg lighter than the original Sram/Shimano 3*9 groupset. Next was the lack of noise and slightly stiff changing action. I choose a 30 tooth front ring and the 11-42 cassette. Very happy with this upgrade
